WA: Judges to get 9.2pc raise

PERTH, Dec 5 AAP - West Australian judges are in line to receive a 9.2 per cent salary
boost from the beginning of next year, the state's Salaries and Allowance Tribunal (SAT)
said today.

In a report delivered to the office of Premier Geoff Gallop, the SAT recommended pay
rises for judges and masters of the Supreme Court, judges of the District Court and magistrates.

It also recommended a 3.1 per cent pay rise for members of the state's Anti-Corruption
Commission.

The pay rise, which if approved will take effect from January 1 next year, would bring
salaries for the state's judiciary into line with increases granted in the federal jurisdiction
by the Commonwealth Remuneration Tribunal earlier this year.

The tribunal has also recommended that the increase flow through to linked legal positions
in the courts, the Offices of the Crown Solicitor and Parliamentary Counsel, and the Office
of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
