Ryan Smyth scored the tying goal midway through the third period, and Dustin Brown had the deciding goal in a shootout, leading the Los Angeles Kings to a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.
Brad Richardson and Sean O'Donnell also scored for Los Angeles in regulation, and Jonathan Quick made 26 saves on his 24th birthday. The Kings have won their last six games that have been decided in a shootout _ all of them at Staples Center.
The Kings finished their longest homestand of the season 2-5-0. They don't play at home again until Feb. 2, following a five-game Eastern trip during which they'll be displaced by the Grammy Awards.
