Fed: June quarter national accounts out a day early

CANBERRA, Aug 9 AAP - The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) will release growthfigures for the June quarter a day earlier than planned after a request from TreasurerPeter Costello.

Mr Costello said he had asked for the national accounts figures to be released on Tuesday,September 3, as he planned to leave Australia for the APEC finance minister's meetingthe following day.

"The Australian Statistician has agreed to this request and indicated that he willrelease the June quarter national accounts one day earlier, on Tuesday 3 September 2002,"

Mr Costello said.

The ABS said it was an established expectation that the Treasurer be available to commenton the national accounts data.
