NT: NT remembers Anzac Day

The Last Post sounded across the cliffs overlooking Darwin Harbour this morning ..

as the Top End paused to remember Anzac Day.

About four thousand people gathered to watch the sunrise and commemorate the sacrifices
made by Australia's servicemen and women .. 92 years after the ill-fated Gallipoli campaign
in Turkey.

Northern Territory Administrator and bush balladeer TED EGAN told the crowd .. Anzac
Day makes everyone recall the best of the human spirit.

Chaplain RUSSELL SMITH said it's a time to remember with gratitude those who made the
supreme sacrifice so the world could be a better and happier place .. and to support those
currently serving our nation.

Cyclone Monica's howling winds forced the cancellation of last year's dawn service.
